Do I need a Security Officer License?
Yes! You will need a Security Officer License to act as a Security Officer (someone who is paid to watch, guard or protect any property) in WA.
What are the eligibility requirements to get a Security Officer License?
In order to become a Security Officer, you will need to:
Be at least 18 years old
Be fit and healthy enough to complete the work
Be up to date with first aid training and have a current first aid certificate
Be able to provide proof that you’ve completed a Certificate II in Security operations with an approved training provider (Core Security Training provides this)
Complete and pass a written exam based on your training course
Fingerprints and palm prints may also be recorded.
Who administers Security Officer Licenses?
Licenses are administered by WA Police Licensing Services, and you must visit their office in person to apply, or if you live Regional WA, you can visit your local police station who will assist you with your application.
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
Generally, it can take anywhere up to 30 days for a new application to be processed, with renewals and endorsements often taking up to 20 days.
